School Philosophy and Background

My Little Village is designed around a child’s need to develop through play while understanding that structure and predictability is essential for their positive development and self esteem. Our daily schedule allows plenty of time for both independent and teacher directed play. At My Little Village each child is viewed as a unique individual whose physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth are supported and nurtured in order to help them become happy, creative, well rounded human beings.

We are committed to providing the East Village with a fun, safe and stimulating environment for the children of our community.

Amy W. Kraus is the school’s Owner/Teaching Director and has over ten years of teaching experience. She is a graduate of the Bank Street College of Education, with a Masters of Education in the field of Administration and School Leadership.

My Little Village is licensed by the New York City Department of Health and follows all of its policies and procedures. Our staff includes a New York State Certified Early Childhood Director and Lead Teachers along with experienced Assistant Teachers. The student to teacher ratio is always 5 to 1 or 4 to 1. Throughout the year our staff participates in teacher workshops and staff development to continually increase our knowledge of the progressing field of early childhood education.
